About the Ocala Model Railroaders

The

The Society has started designing a new N-scale "Ocala Midland" layout.  The new layout will feature a large yard with industrial switching, an interchange yard with a branch line to service the off line businesses.

Also under reconstruction is the HO-scale "Ocklawaha Valley Railroad".  Originally built by the late Dr. Chambers, is a 21' x 16' highly detailed operational tabletop style layout.  This railroad depicts the transitional period from steam to diesel.

The Society proudly displays its HO and N gauge "traveling" modular layouts at various train shows and events.

The 16' x 26' HO-scale layout is built to National Model Railroad Association standards and has double track mainline with a large yard down the middle.  The layout has a scale reproduction of the historic Ocala Union Station as well as a scale reproduction of Anthony, Florida, as it appeared in the 1920's.  Our 12-1/2' x 20' N-scale modular layout has a three track mainline and a single track branch line running through the mountains in the back.  All of the Society layouts are highly detailed and depict life along the railroad during different time periods.  We also maintain an extensive collection of books, railroad videos, and hobby/train magazines dating back to the 1930's.
